EMU （Toshihiro Umekita）
He runs a small shipbuilding company along the Seto Inland Sea.
Influenced by his grandfather and father, both shipbuilders, he has been interested in construction since he was a child. His father taught him his techniques on his days off and he enjoyed making his own furniture, figurines and toys.
Later, after learning the fundamentals of design at a vocational school, he made a 20-year career as a graphic designer in Tokyo.
In 2016, he transformed one of his rooms into a workshop and he began to create the Kokeshi EMU Blackboard, a piece created by mixing woodworking techniques and graphic design …
